When you make a gift of stocks, bonds or other publicly traded securities to the York Region Children’s Fund, you will make a positive difference in the lives of children. As well, when you donate publicly traded securities, none of the capital gains are taxable, potentially offering significant tax advantage as a donor. When you plan an event for the York Region Children’s Fund, you raise urgently needed funds that support York Region children and youth AND you help to make others in our community aware of that need as they join in the event activities.

It could be a golf tournament, a gala, or perhaps a car wash. Whatever kind of event you hold, the funds you raise will help to build happy childhoods and brighter futures.

When you leave a gift in your Will (a bequest) to the York Region Children’s Fund, you will be making a significant and very meaningful future gift that will help vulnerable children and youth, while having little to no effect on your current lifestyle. As well, a bequest may help to offset taxes payable to your estate.

Building employee engagement and helping your community – these are two great reasons to consider a workplace fundraising event or campaign. When employees come together to support a great cause, the sky is the limit. Workplace events, from holiday parties to dress down days and everything in between, can make a real difference. Asking your company to match your efforts will double your impact.

Many companies have gift-matching programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees and retirees. To find out if your company will help you support the York Region Children’s Fund through a matching gift, ask your Human Resources Department. Your H.R. Department will be able to provide you with any applicable company forms to accompany your gift to the Children’s Fund.

At certain times of the year, donations such as back-to-school supplies or holiday needs are requested to help our families.

Year-round high priority items include baby formula, diapers and grocery store gift cards.

Donations of service, such as printing and design, which help the foundation keep costs to a minimum are also needed.
